Welcome to the 2020-2021 school year!
Week of Monday, September 21, 2020
Good afternoon this is Ms. Rachel McKay, Assistant Principal at Nathan Hale Middle School, with your upcoming announcements for the week of Monday, September 21, 2020.
We are happy to report that our students and families are feeling more comfortable with our remote learning procedures and practices.
With that being said, we have learned that in order to best serve your technology needs such as password resets, Google Classroom access or questions about the remote learning schedule, contacting us directly at the building level is best. However, please continue using the Parent Help hotline for DEVICE defaults. A Parent Trouble Shooting Flow chart is available on the Nathan Hale Middle School Website and will be attached to our weekly email message.
If your student needs to reset their password, please contact Ms. Amanda Weber, our library media specialist, at AWeber@district130.org. If your student is having difficulty accessing a Google Classroom, please contact your student’s homeroom teacher via email. Questions about the remote learning schedule can be reported to our school guidance counselor, Ms. Kuba at RKuba@district130.org.
It is that time of year to complete the Household Income, and Title I forms. The household income is form is used to determine your students’ school fees for the 20/21 Fiscal School Year while the Title I form is simply an educational agreement between student, parent, teacher, and principal. Please complete these forms at your earliest convenience. The forms can be found at www.district130.org, and as an attachment to to an email that will be sent early this week. Send forms to the Secretary at STyus@district130.org, or by fax at 708-385-2417.
Please remember that it is imperative that your student attend school every day including Wednesdays. Your student is required to “check in” during homeroom, and every class period throughout the day on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday using the link provided on their daily student planner. Final daily attendance is reported to the office at the end of each and every school day. If your student is considered not in attendance for the day, s/he will be marked “absent” and the parent will receive an automated phone call. We have noticed that on Wednesdays our absence rates are on the rise. Remind you student that they must check in up to 12 times on Wednesdays in order to be considered present for the asynchronous learning opportunities..
If your student will be absent due to an illness or any other unforeseen reason, a parent MUST call the secretary before the beginning of the school day at 708-385-6690 to report your student’s absence. Failure to do so will result in an unexcused absence.
Should you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to your students’ teachers, our secretaries, Ms. Sparkle Tyus or Ms. Daniela Peralta, Mr. Graig Mason who will be providing administrative support during Ms. Botica’s scheduled absence or myself, Ms. Rachel McKay. The phone number to the main office is 708-385-6690.
At Nathan Hale Middle School we understand that these may be difficult times for our families and would like to provide support to you. Please contact us should you need assistance, or if you have any questions or concerns. We are here to help you!
As always, parents are our partners and YOU are an important part of our NHM team!
We hope you are having a wonderful Sunday and as always, GO PANTHERS!
